Favorite Stocking Stuffers of 2014

Favorite Stocking Stuffers of 2014

I’m one of those people who likes to shop throughout the year for Christmas, rather than saving it up until the last minute. Yes, I have completed my shopping/buying by August in the past, and I realize that boggles most people’s minds. Let’s blame it on the organizer/planner in me. About this time of year I already have my carefully planned excel list of gifts by person, and most of those gifts purchased, leaving me to focus on another very important holiday tradition: stocking stuffers! This really is the most wonderful time of the year…

I was like a child on Christmas morning the moment I opened my inbox a few weeks ago to find an email announcing The Container Store’s 2014 Stocking Stuffers. The Container Store has been my favorite store to shop for stocking stuffers and holiday wrapping for several years now (even before I was a Professional Organizer). Their selection is unmatched, and the quality of the products is worth the extra expense. Perhaps it also has to do with how clean and organized the store is: OCD strikes again!

Here are a few of my favorites this year’s (from left to right, top to bottom):

9 Favorite Stocking Stuffers

Glass & Decanter set: My mother always had one of these by her bedside, and on the nightstand in the guest room. The decanter holds a decent amount of water that can be poured into the glass. The glass also acts as a cover for the decanter. I have a glass version of this but it’s super fragile. What I love about the Go Vino version is that it’s plastic but looks like glass. It’s a great gift for anyone.

Arctic Animals Hot/Cold Packs: I’ve already purchased a few of these because who can resist these cute faces? These are especially perfect for kids, but adults will love them too.

4-Part Sliding Smart Hub: This is perfect for the techie in your life. What I love about this usb port is that it moves to fit your needs, plus it gives you an additional 4 ports!

Slim Sonic Toothbrush: Confession – I couldn’t wait to get this in my stocking this year, so I went out and bought it immediately. This is a great travel toothbrush and I love the cute packaging (best for the ladies). Who doesn’t love the gift of health?!

LifeHammer: This is a great gift for the guy in your life (although gals would love it too)! This #GadgetWorthGetting allows you to break your car window in the event of an emergency, as well as cut the seatbelt off of you. Keep this in the center console or the glovebox.

Sheep Lid Lifters: I’ve made quite a mess trying to adjust a pot lid ‘just so’ to let steam out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. With these little lid lifters, I don’t have to worry about it. Yes, it could be considered a frivolous gadget, but these little sheep are small and cheerful! I know a few cooks who would love these little additions to their kitchens.

Birdie Envelope Opener: A letter opener is a gadget I think everyone should have in their arsenal. Let’s be honest here, your finger doesn’t always cut it (and often gets cut). And ripping the envelope could potentially rip the contents inside. Letter openers make opening mail fast and effortless. I love the modern design and colors of these birdie openers! I hope Santa brings me one this year.

2-Handed Luggage Scale: This is for the avid traveler in your life! How many of you have tried to balance your oversized luggage on your bathroom scale (hand raised!) or weighed yourself with your luggage then without and figured out the difference? Talk about depressing. This hand scale allows you to weigh your luggage so you can avoid those heavy bag fees (which are now DOUBLE the cost of a regular checked bag). It’s definitely worth the investment.

Kinetic Sand: Another gift great for anyone on your list. A former colleague of mine got this last year for Christmas and we were all obsessed with playing with it. There’s something magical and hypnotizing about this magical stuff which is half sand, half liquid. It doesn’t stick to your hands or make a mess like regular sand. It’s very relaxing for adults, and a fun way to keep your child entertained without the use of electronics.

These are just a few of the great stocking stuffers available at The Container Store, and I have purchased most of them. Run, don’t walk, before their supplies sell out (which happens often)! What are some of your favorite stocking stuffers this year? Please share with us by commenting below.
