Holiday Playlist: For Packing, Wrapping or Organizing!

Holiday Playlist: For Packing, Wrapping or Organizing!

Well, it’s that time of year again: time to wrap gifts, bake goodies, and decorate for the holidays. Many families start this immediately after Thanksgiving, while others wait until a week or two (or three!) into December. Either way, I’ve created a fun Holiday Playlist to jam to while decorating your tree, wrapping your gifts, baking in the kitchen, packing for your holiday trip, or snuggling with your loved ones. And because I love giving, I’ve super-sized the playlist to include 6 songs!

1 – All I Want For Christmas Is You, Mariah Carey (album: Merry Christmas II You)
When I hear this song, I know the Christmas season has begun! Without fail it makes me smile, warms my cold heart, and gets me in the mood to give, give, give! Many Christmas songs are geared towards children, or are slower songs – not this one! Get up and dance while stringing the lights or hanging ornaments on the tree!

2 – Santa Baby, Michael Buble (album: Christmas)
There are a lot of versions of Santa Baby out there, but most are by women. What I like about Michael’s version is how he’s made it work from a man’s point of view. Santa buddy, I wouldn’t mind a rolex, the deed to a platinum mine, or some cha-ching (I don’t mean a loan) either! Better yet, Santa, can you bring me Michael tied with a big red bow? And I don’t mean a CD! Please hurry down my chimney tonight.

3 – Baby, It’s Cold Outside, Glee Cast Version (album: Glee: The Christmas Album)
This classic duet was given a modern twist a few years ago when the Glee cast opted to have two males to sing their version. I love the way their two voices work so well together. Thankfully, I live in LA where it’s not too cold outside during the holidays, but this song gives me chills enough to get a pot of hot cocoa going on the stove top! It’s also the perfect tune to keep me thinking ‘cool’ when the oven is on full blast baking cookies, tree bark, and church windows!

4 – White Christmas, Pt. 1, Pink Martini (album: Joy to the World)
“The sun is shining, the grass is green, the orange and palm trees sway… There’s never been such a day, in Beverly Hills, LA. But it’s December the 24th and I’m longing to be up north!” No matter what the weather outside, we all dream of a white Christmas (whether snow or sand). Even though I love my warm, snowless CA winters, this beautifully melodic version by Pink Martini helps me reflect on all the picture-perfect white christmases of my childhood!

5 – Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jackson 5 (album: The Christmas Collection)
Need motivation to get your mountain of gifts wrapped and under the tree? Put on this blast-from-the-past and watch how fast your hands will cut, fold, tape and curl (ribbon that is). There’s nothing like a little rhythm and encouraging cheers from a young Michael to get you going. When you’re all done, make sure to straighten up your wrapping paper station – this will have you on Santa’s good list for sure!

6 – Adeste Fidelis, Andrea Bocelli (album: My Christmas)
I wanted to include a more traditional Christmas song, sung by a man with the voice of an angel! It’s perfect to put on when enjoying a cup of spiced apple cider, basking in the glow of your beautifully decorated Christmas tree, warmed by the crackling fire, and snuggled up with the ones you love! Take it all in and give thanks for all you have this holiday season. The gift of life, health, love, time and gratitude are the best gifts of all!

Happy Holidays to you and yours from Let Me Organize It!
